Every Thursday we spotlight authors, agents and more who talk about books, authors, and writing! It’s to let writers and readers know there are awesome resources out there!

Sabaa Tahir has a fantastic book that is getting recognized with award nominations and a fan base that can’t get enough. If you haven’t read An Ember in the Ashes, I highly recommend it before the sequel comes out later this year. I mean read it! You won’t be disappointed.

Every month Sabaa spotlights a debut author on her website. She asks great questions to the authors about their book, their writing and life! As a reader and writer her site is perfect to follow. It helps the reader find a new author and the writer to see into this debut author’s world and what he/she is going through. Check out her wonderful interview of Alwyn Hamilton, author of Rebel of the Sands, or Marieke Nijkamp This is Where It Ends!

I had the pleasure of having Sabaa on my Pre-Pub Adventures where we followed her to publishing her book. I got to meet her in NY for a signing and she is just amazing in person. She was wonderful to all her fans. But she isn’t just wonderful to her fans. She supports other authors! I love when this happens! Sabaa supports so many great authors with shootouts on Twitter or Instagram! The writing community is such a great place.

I highly recommend you follow Sabaa. She is fantastic with words and her website is a great resource for new books and an insight into an author’s world!

Let’s take a look at Sabaa!

Laia is a slave. Elias is a soldier. Neither is free.

Under the Martial Empire, defiance is met with death. Those who do not vow their blood
and bodies to the Emperor risk the execution of their loved ones and the destruction of all they hold dear.

It is in this brutal world, inspired by ancient Rome, that Laia lives with her grandparents and older brother. The family eke
s out an existence in the Empire’s impoverished backstreets. They do not challenge the Empire. They’ve seen what happens to those who do.
But when Laia’s brother is arrested for treason, Laia is forced to make a decision. In exchange for help from rebels who promise to rescue her brother, she will risk her life to spy for them from within the Empire’s greatest military academy.

There, Laia meets Elias, the school’s finest soldier—and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias wants only to be free of the tyranny he’s being trained to enforce. He and Laia will soon realize that their destinies are intertwined—and that their choices will change the fate of the Empire itself.
