Release Day Blitz

Today is a very special release day! Two of the authors I have followed on a post I created for The Writer Diaries called Pre-Pub Adventures have books releasing today.

Tuesday is a day for spotlighting some of the books releasing this week that we think should grab your attention. It’s our weekly post on new releases hitting the shelves.

Let’s take a look at this weeks big releases that we’re definitely going to pick up!

  • Hardcover: 400 pages

  • Publisher: HarperTeen (February 10, 2015)

Graceling meets The Selection in debut novelist Victoria Aveyard’s sweeping tale of seventeen-year-old Mare, a common girl whose once-latent magical power draws her into the dangerous intrigue of the king’s palace. Will her power save her or condemn her?

Mare Barrow’s world is divided by blood—those with common, Red blood serve the Silver- blooded elite, who are gifted with superhuman abilities. Mare is a Red, scraping by as a thief in a poor, rural village, until a twist of fate throws her in front of the Silver court. Before the king, princes, and all the nobles, she discovers she has an ability of her own.

To cover up this impossibility, the king forces her to play the role of a lost Silver princess and betroths her to one of his own sons. As Mare is drawn further into the Silver world, she risks everything and uses her new position to help the Scarlet Guard—a growing Red rebellion—even as her heart tugs her in an impossible direction. One wrong move can lead to her death, but in the dangerous game she plays, the only certainty is betrayal.

I am so excited to read Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen. It seems like I’ve waited forever for it’s release. But the day is finally here! We were so excited at having Victoria part of our Pre-Pub Adventure. And to make things better Victoria is coming to Florida next week for a signing! SQUEE!

Glass Arrow

  • Hardcover: 336 pages

  • Publisher: Tor Teen; First Edition edition (February 10, 2015)

Once there was a time when men and women lived as equals, when girl babies were valued, and women could belong only to themselves. But that was ten generations ago. Now women are property, to be sold and owned and bred, while a strict census keeps their numbers manageable and under control. The best any girl can hope for is to end up as some man’s forever wife, but most are simply sold and resold until they’re all used up.

Only in the wilderness, away from the city, can true freedom be found. Aya has spent her whole life in the mountains, looking out for her family and hiding from the world, until the day the Trackers finally catch her.

Stolen from her home, and being groomed for auction, Aya is desperate to escape her fate and return to her family, but her only allies are a loyal wolf she’s raised from a pup and a strange mute boy who may be her best hope for freedom . . . if she can truly trust him.

This one sounds amazing and it was a pleasure following Kristen on her Pre-Pub Adventure too!

I’ve been hearing a lot about this book and have been intrigued ever since.

  • Hardcover: 400 pages
  • Publisher: HarperTeen (February 10, 2015)

Since her brother, Tyler, committed suicide, Lex has been trying to keep her grief locked away, and to forget about what happened that night. But as she starts putting her life, her family, and her friendships back together, Lex is haunted by a secret she hasn’t told anyone—a text Tyler sent, that could have changed everything.

In the tradition of Jay Asher’s Thirteen Reasons Why, Gayle Forman’s If I Stay, and Lauren Oliver’s Before I FallThe Last Time We Say Goodbye is a thoughtful and deeply affecting novel that will change the way you look at life and death.

I like when books get serious and this one sounds just that delving into suicide. Plus, Cynthia Hand is coming on tour next week so I definitely want to get this reading done before I meet her!

Wonderful book releases this week! What one will you pick up?
